Bank robbery is the crime of stealing from a bank. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program, robbery is "the taking or attempting to take anything of value from the care, custody, or control of a person or persons by force or threat of force or violence and/or by putting the victim in fear."[1] By contrast, burglary is defined as, "unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or theft."[2] Definitions vary in other countries, however. In the United Kingdom, robbery is the removal or taking away of property from a place in which you are entitled to be (without any requirement for force or violence to be threatened or used), whilst burglary is largely in line with the US version, entering property unlawfully. In layman's terms, therefore, bank robbery is entering a bank when it is open and either by using force or the threat of force or otherwise obtaining valuables, usually money. Entering a bank when it is closed is burglary.

It’s not enough to simply walk into a bank and make a mental note of the layout. For a safe job, you’ll always want an inside man who can tell you the best time to strike. If you’re after the drawers, you’ll at least want to know how often the police patrol the area, how many security guards they have on staff, whether the guards are armed, things of that nature.

Whether or not to use guns is up to you. You can easily con a bank if you’re clever by simply saying you have a gun, in which case, policy generally dictates their compliance just in case. However, this route only ensures one drawer full of money, so you can usually make off with a heftier prize if you’re packing a little heat.
Should a shoot-out occur, always aim low (preferably at the floor!). Above the waist could net you an attempted murder charge, below the waist is simply assault.
Always remind the bystanders that you are not stealing their money, but the bank’s, which is fully insured against theft.

You should be in and out of that bank in one or two minutes. Any longer and you’re basically daring the police to come get you.

Establish a small business that trades in service, rather than goods, which can be more easily monitored. It doesn’t have to be a big thing, you could even get your team of thieves together to form a band, start a business account, and whenever a friend asks you to play at a wedding or a party or what have you, hand them some cash and ask that they write you a check in this amount. Tell them that it’s for tax reasons “I get to write off my guitar if you do this!” and you should be set. Anything to make it look like you’re actually earning this money, even if that involves doing a little bit of “legitimate” work on the side now and then.

In a typical bank robbery, the robber hands a note to the bank teller listing his demands, usually instructing the teller to put money in a bag or other object. The dye pack device was invented as a way to non-violently render a bank robbery pointless by permanently staining the stolen money a bright red color, alerting everyone to the fact that the money being passed to them is stolen.

The dye pack used in over 75 percent of banks in the United States is called the "SecurityPac," made by ICI Security Systems. A dye pack consists of a stack of real bills, usually of $10 or $20 denominations, with the dye device stuck in the middle of the stack. In the past, the device itself was made of a rigid plastic and was quite detectable to the skilled criminal. Today, however, new technology has allowed the dye to be housed in a thin, flexible package, making a dye pack virtually indistinguishable from a regular stack of money.

Bank tellers have several of these packs near their station at all times. A pack is put in "safe" mode by attaching it to a special magnetic plate. During a robbery, a teller tries to slip one of the dye packs into the money bag without the thief noticing. While the thief is still inside the bank, the dye pack remains dormant. Within the dye package is a small radio receiver that is activated when the pack is removed from the magnetic plate. A small radio transmitter is mounted inside or near the door frame of all entrances of the bank. Once the dye pack passes through the door and receives the specific radio frequency signal, it activates. The dye pack is usually set on a timer of 10 seconds or longer so that the criminal is either in his getaway car or running a good distance from the bank before the package explodes.

When the dye pack explodes, it releases an aerosol of red smoke, red dye (1-methylamino-anthraquinone) and, in some cases, tear gas. When these chemical reactions take place, the package burns at a temperature of about 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius), discouraging any attempts to remove the device from the bag. (Further details of the chemical activation are "classified.") Typically, the explosion of the dye pack compels the thief to throw the bag, so the bank gets its money back. In addition, the red dye frequently stains the thief's clothes and/or hands, making identification of the suspect quite easy.

RF jammers are fairly simplistic devices. The most simple jammers have only an on/off switch and an LED signifying power to the unit. The more complex devices contain switches or dials that allow the user to select the frequencies desired for jamming. The components which can be located in every jammer include:

Antenna -- The antenna transmits the jammers interrupting signal. Certain jammers contain an internal antenna while others have external antennas which give the user a longer range to broadcast the signal and more control over frequency tuning.

Voltage-controlled oscillator -- The oscillator is responsible for generating the competing radio signal.

Tuning circuit -- In those units the enable user-specified frequency tuning, the tuning circuit controls the broadcast frequency of the circuit by sending a specific voltage to the oscillator.

Noise generator -- The noise generator, which is part of the tuning circuit, actually creates radomized electric output within a specific frequency range which is used to disrupt a cellular network signal.

RF amplification (gain stage) -- This amplifier controls the level of power to the tuning circuit. It is responsible for boosting the power as necessary to jam signals.

Power Supply -- Smaller jamming devices may use batteries while larger and more power-intensive devices can be plugged into a standard outlet or connected through the electrical system of a vehicle.

This is the simplest jammer possible. All it is is a 100Mhz crystal oscillator with an antenna stuck on it. 100Mhz oscillators are pretty damn rare, but I managed to find one on some old circuit board from the 90s and desoldered it. I hooked up power as shown, and stuck on an antenna made from a thin piece of wire. The antenna was about

80cm long.

Mu is a Sheffield, England-based duo consisting of Baltimore-born producer Maurice Fulton and his wife, Japan-born vocalist Mutsumi Kanamori.

Mutsumi Kanamori fronts it and her voice has all the wrong frequencies. It is an un-melifluous wonder, what some writer described as sounding like a psychotic Korean grocer's wife screaming at a shoplifter. Fulton chops it all up and dumps it back out in blasts of gated afro-cuban diarrhea.

Mu’s story begins 1997, when Mutsumi made good on her dream of making a life for herself outside of her native Japan. “I was thinking New York or London, it was two choices,” she recalls. With easier access to a British visa, Mutsumi soon found herself in London struggling from the pressures of adapting to a new country and a new language.

in 2001 she met the DJ and Producer Maurice Fulton at the nightclub the Electric Chair in nearby Manchester.

“He saw me dancing crazy on the dance floor,” Mutsumi recalls of meeting Fulton. “After he finished DJing he came to me and told me: ‘I’m going to make a song about you!’” Mutsumi and Fulton quickly began collaborating musically and recorded Mu’s first single “Let’s Get Sick” in June 2003 which was quickly followed by their debut album Afro Finger and Gel released in September of the same year.

1. Put water and powdered milk in a plastic jar. Close the jar and shake until fully mixed.

2. Add the molasses and shake the jar again until the mixture appears to have an even color throughout.

3. Pour the mixture into an enema bag. Gently insert the enema tubing into the rectum about 12 inches. Do not force the tube and stop if you meet any resistance. Hold the bag high until all the liquid has been drained into the rectum.

Movie Night: 'Over The Edge'

Over the Edge is a film directed by Jonathan Kaplan released in 1979. Due to the negative publicity surrounding a wave of recent youth gang films, Over the Edge had a limited theatrical release. It stars Matt Dillon in his feature film debut.

Because of its depiction of teenage rebellion, drug and alcohol use by junior high school students, a sensational depiction of suburban life in the late 1970s, and a rock music soundtrack featuring such bands as Cheap Trick and The Cars, Over the Edge has achieved cult film status, and was an inspiration for the music video for the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana. [1].

According to the director's and writer's commentary on the DVD, Over the Edge was inspired by actual events that took place in Foster City, California in the early 1970s. Those events were chronicled in a 1974 article titled "Mouse Packs: Kids on a Crime Spree" from the San Francisco Examiner. The writer of the article, Charles S. Haas, went on to co-write the screenplay.

Synopsis

The film follows a group of teenagers living in a fictional planned community called New Granada, which is isolated beyond other existing suburbs, in the nearly-treeless plains east of Denver, Colorado. Their needs were not considered by those who designed the community, and so there is nothing for them to do but go to school and hang out at the local recreation center, which closes at six o‘clock. The kids turn to substance abuse, sex, and petty crime as a way to kill their boredom, but their outcry falls on deaf ears, as the adults are too concerned with pursuing wealth and stomping out the seemingly-senseless rowdy behavior to actually understand the reasons why the adolescents are misbehaving. After one of the kids is shot and killed by a police officer, the youths violently rebel against their parents and the authorities, an uprising that results in fiery mayhem in and around the junior high school.

HUGGY BEAR - RUBBING THE IMPOSSIBLE BURST

Punk rock may turn out to be as durable as the blues. The music that marked rock's adolescent temper tantrum in the 1970's has become the idiom for disaffected youths, who accept nothing from their elders except punk rock's shouted vocals, clattering drums and choked power chords. The music's discordant noise and defiant amateurism keep it on the fringes of pop, to be rediscovered and renewed by wave after wave of marginalized fans and musicians.

Huggy Bear, calling its members "boy-girl revolutionaries," has added some Situationist (anarchic Marxist) theory to the riot-grrrl rhetoric, with lines like "They wanna make a T-shirt out of your dreams." The group's lead vocals are shared by a male, Chris Morbius, and a female, Nicki Elliot, who both sing about "my boyfriend" and about "feeling like girls, even the boys"; Mr. Morbius bawls a little louder. The band kicks up a righteous rumble, with Ms. Elliot's bass pounding alongside Karen Hill's drums, as Billy Karren and Joe Johnson on guitars churn up dissonant riffs and feedback. The songs pounded, howled and stopped short, in classic punk style.

The strange thing was that Huggy Bear’s musical template was hardly revolutionary. It was a relatively straightforward mix between the twee, non-macho, post-C86 bands such as Heavenly and The Field Mice, caught up in the DIY cassette and fanzine culture emanating from labels such as Calvin Johnson’s K Records, and Bristol, England’s Sarah Records, and the noise/pop experimentation of the sonic overlords/ladies Lydia Lunch and Sonic Youth…with a little Fifties beat poetry thrown in. No, it wasn’t so much the music that was revolutionary, as what they did with it. Scratch that. Huggy Bear’s deliberately naïve, anti-societal approach to playing guitar—there is no right and wrong way to play guitar, to paint a picture, to view art—was revolutionary inasmuch as it challenged accepted mores, forced listeners to re-evaluate their entire approach to music.

Despite their musical leanings, Huggy Bear with their rudimentary anarcho-syndicalism, ideas of equal ‘prime movers’ (not leaders) and impassioned feminism had more in common with mischief-mongers and Government-baiters Crass than any of the toy rabbit-clutching bands that followed. One listen to the fury threatening to devour the songs alive on their Wiiija compilation Taking The Rough With The Smooch proves that.

I dont usually get invited to polite parties, no printed invitations for Mediterranean dinners, no gardens for sipping Beaujolais or tasting brochettes of melon while boats roar with prosciutto and mozzarella. Polari (or alternatively Parlare, Parlary, Palare, Palarie, Palari, Parlyaree, from Italian parlare, "to talk") was a form of cant slang used in the gay subculture in Britain.
Polari is a mixture of Romance (Italian or Mediterranean Lingua Franca), Romany, London slang, backslang, rhyming slang, sailor slang, and thieves' cant. Later it expanded to contain words from the Yiddish language of the Jewish subculture which settled in the East End of London, the US forces (present in the UK during World War II) and 1960s drug users. It was a constantly developing form of language, with a small core lexicon of about 20 words (including bona, ajax, eek, cod, naff, lattie, nanti, omi, palone, riah, zhoosh (tjuz), TBH, trade, vada), with over 500 other lesser-known items.

Polari was used in London fishmarkets, the theatre, and the gay subculture. As Polari, it was used to disguise homosexual activity from potentially hostile outsiders (such as undercover policemen), but also because many gay men worked in theatrical entertainment where the lingo originated (including fairgrounds and circuses, hence the many borrowings from Romani in Polari). The almost identical Parlyaree has been spoken in fairgrounds since at least the 17th century and continues to be used by show travellers in England and Scotland. As theatrical booths, circus acts and menageries were once a common part of European fairs it is likely that the roots of Polari/Parlyaree lie in the period before both theatre and circus became independent of the fairgrounds. The Parlyaree spoken on fairgrounds tends to borrow much more from Romani, as well as other languages and argots spoken by travelling people, such as cant and backslang.

A glory hole (also spelled gloryhole and glory-hole) is a hole in a wall, or other partition, often between public lavatory stalls or adult video arcade booths for people to engage in sexual activity or observe the person in the next cubicle while one or both parties masturbate. The partition maintains anonymity.

The precise origin of the term is unknown, but it is known to have been used in Polari, the covert language of the homosexual subculture in London's dockland, amongst sailors, stewards, queers and queens who associated with it. In naval slang, the 'glory hole' was used in both the merchant and Royal Navy; in the Navy this refers to a place for general untidinesses, on passenger liners the Stewards' mess, and on coal-burning tramp steamers, the stoke hold.

There are many theories regarding the origins of the earliest glory hole. One common idea is that it originated as a spy or peep hole, and grew larger as men sought more contact, but only enough contact as to perform sex acts upon the genitals of other men.

From the mid-to-late 20th century glory holes could be found in public men's rooms in the United States including adult bookstores, and gay bars. When an institution (school, governmental or business) would replace bathroom stalls they often would upgrade to stainless steel to discourage creating holes as well as other forms of vandalism as wood walls were an easy target for such activities. Sometimes men who enjoy the erotic aspects of the activity will even create one for private use in their homes.

There isn't exactly a lot of green space in the fair hamlet of Allston, MA, so to the average non-resident bystander, Ringer Park may seem like nothing to particularly write home about. But to Allston residents, this lovable hillside that's occasionally littered with broken glass and canine turds is all we've got, SO BACK OFF ALRIGHT?

That being said, this Saturday, things at Ringer get even better - there will be live rock music in the Park. Yes, it's true! As far as I can tell, Saturday's event will be some sort of local artisan and creativity showcase featuring a flea-market of some sorts, ...... with lots of noise, sweat and yes, possibly, even a little bit of fun. All in all, this show should be an interesting experience in broad daylight.

Greetings fellow patriots,

This short letter is a plea to the people of America, and the rest of the free world, not to be distracted by two deceptive spectacles that are taking place right now: North Korea’s nuclear posturing and the supposed death of Michael Jackson. You might think that these are two strangely disparate subjects to address in the same letter, but the frightening truth is that they are both intimately related. I am going to explain the real situation to you, which may sound unbelievable at first, but every bit of it is true. And—I assure you—it is imperative that you spread the word so that we can prepare ourselves as best we can, because the mainstream media and the government remain totally blind to the facts.

First of all, despite the image being projected by the regime in Pyongyang, and the U.S. media’s distortion of events taking place there, there’s not a freeballer’s chance in Antarctica that North Korea is going to launch a conventional military or nuclear attack on anyone, even if they develop a few nuclear weapons. I mean think about it. They still haven’t completed the Ryugyong Hotel (a.k.a. the hotel of doom), the monstrous pyramid that towers over Pyongyang, and that project was begun in 1987. They don’t have the funds. When construction was going on, the money being spent represented two percent of the North’s GDP. The North Korean leadership may be crazy, but they’re not stupid. Despite the fact that their strong military is at the center of North Korean society, they are not going to engage the United States directly in a military conflict. They are a poor, isolated nation whose closest ally is China; and China’s closest ally is the American consumer.

Instead, we have reason to believe that the dastardly Kim Jong-il has other plans based on an ingeniously-simple application of physics and chaos theory, exploiting a weakness in the structure of the Earth’s tectonic plates. As the Lacanian physicist Jacques Michel Fournier explained in a 1986 article published in the journal Sexologie et l'physique nouvelle, “It is remarkable that the grave military implications of ‘socialist’ mass games and synchronized dancing have heretofore gone unnoted. For example, our best computer models indicate that if half the population of tiny North Korea were mobilized in a mass dance (and for this purpose costuming is irrelevant) in which everyone stomped in unison, it is possible—because of the present arrangement of the Earth’s tectonic plates—that southern California would experience a massive earthquake three days later. If the entire population were so mobilized, and a flag corps were used—the ripples traveling under the floor of the Pacific Ocean would be so great that we could expect the statue of liberty to collapse into New York harbor.”

After that quotation, I almost needn’t say any more. It should be obvious to you now that the North’s dance capabilities have been seriously underestimated by almost all analysts, except Fournier. We have been so focused on high tech threats that we have not considered the ultimate low-tech weapon: The human body and its capacity to groove. But there’s more to the story. We have reason to believe that the regime is planning to perform the ultimate dance of doom and world domination, utilizing the entire population of the country, in the year 2012, which is not only the 100th anniversary of Kim Il-sung’s birth, but the end date of the current cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Coincidence?

Now you might be starting to guess where Michael Jackson comes into the picture. It’s a little known fact that Michael Jackson is one of the only Western entertainers to perform regularly in North Korea since 1988. Jackson and his management deftly kept this hidden from the world public until the bootleg recordings, Michael Jackson, Live in Pyongyang and The Invincible Tour: Behind the Kimchi Curtain surfaced in late 2002 on Soulseek and LimeWire. Although sources close to Jackson initially called the recordings a hoax, they quietly admitted a year later that Jackson had indeed toured North Korea. In one newspaper, Dame Elizabeth Taylor was reported as saying, “Michael has been so abused by the American public and the viscous media that it’s no surprise that he would turn to North Korea. They have been nothing but supportive. When he first performed there in 1988 he immediately struck up a friendship with Kim Jong-il. They both love American pop culture. They both had demanding fathers who tried to mold them for public life and both are widely misunderstood. And let’s face it: Kim is Michael’s only friend who understands—like he does—the challenging yet rewarding experience of raising a giraffe in your own home.”

Careful analysis of footage released by the state-run Korean Central News Agency reveals that over the past twenty plus years, more and more of Jackson’s moves have been incorporated into the North’s mass games and synchronized dances. A recent performance at the Rŭngrado May First Stadium, for example, featured a Moon Walk and live human torches.

After the revelations concerning Jackson’s close relationship with Kim Jong-il surfaced, some analysts of North Korean politics even speculated that Jackson was being prepped for a high-ranking position within the North Korean state, perhaps as the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea. With such high stakes, it seems highly unlikely that Jackson would endanger his life at this time with reckless drug use, or that North Korean officials would tolerate it. It’s much more plausible, in fact, that Jackson’s death was faked and that he has now relocated permanently to Pyongyang where he can personally oversee the choreography of the dance of doom. An extract from the Elizabeth Taylor interview mentioned above might illuminate the matter further: “Michael always said that if he lost Neverland, he would move into the Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang. It’s not finished of course but Kim has had a number of suites set up with electricity and everything, and there’s a parlor set up on the third floor for Kabbalah and Hatha Yoga. We’ve stayed there several times. Michael loves looking down from the top of that pyramid—it’s just a magical view. He sometimes says it’s being equipped with a giant death laser that blasts out from the top to vaporize the American imperialist dogs and especially the vicious paparazzi. But that’s just a little joke!”

America, it’s time to wake up and smell the kimjongilias. Michael Jackson is not dead and North Korea’s nuclear program is just a ruse. We are not ready for the dance off that will rock the world.

Students do not understand that overpopulation is the cause of many other environmental problems. To help students understand this, one of my colleagues asks her students to list three important local and global environmental issues as part of a survey on the first day of class. During the following lecture, she presents overpopulation as the top environmental problem:

It may surprise many of you to find out that overpopulation is a leading global environmental problem. Remember on the first day of class, I asked you to list three important global environmental problems. Here are the results of those surveys:

We live in a finite world, with finite resources that must sustain all life, not just our own. The food pyramid we sit at the top of is an unimaginably complex web of interdependent living beings. Let's start talking about solutions.

IT'S A GRAY, WET SUNDAY in April in Boston's Public Garden, but the grounds are bustling with people happy to be outside after a long winter. Young families take advantage of the relatively warm weather to take their kids out in strollers and walk their Labrador retrievers around the pond. Well-to-do couples stroll lazily over the footbridge. And Rev. Chrissy Korda, the founder and leader of the Somerville-based Church of Euthanasia, is here, too--looking smashing as usual....(Dan Burrows)

What I can not do justice to here is the publics reaction to the performance. It was if some one threw a stink bomb at the spectacle of fashionable shoppers in the Newbury / Boylston street area or dropped a deformed elephant on The Boston Common. The reaction was anger, rage but most of all a delicious confusion, an absurdist slug at the dogma of political sloganeering.

"What do we want," began one of their chants
"Abortion."
"When do we want it?"
"Now."
"Why do we want it?"
"Because it tastes good."

Every week for 10 years a right-wing fundamentalist Christian group called Our Lady's Crusaders for Life had been picketing the Gynecare women's clinic in Brookline. Rev. Chrissy decided to take them on.

Outfitted in their most bizarre medieval regalia, the 30 or more church members showed up carrying a blown-up rubber sex doll crucified on a giant cross, and they mocked the fundamentalists by holding up placards declaring themselves the Pedophile Priests for Life.

Surrounded by the Church of Euthanasia members, the fundamentalists panicked. Immediately, they were on their cell phones to the police. "They can't do this!" they cried. "We've been here for 10 years!" When the Brookline motorcycle cops finally arrived on the scene, they found the two groups jostling each other, hopelessly intermingled. One church member, known as Vermin, who was wearing a black robe and veil, was spurting water at the fundamentalists with a penis-shaped squirt gun. In response, the fundamentalists prayed loudly. "Dear Lord," they shouted, "please deliver us from the demons surrounding us!" But the members of the church drowned them out, chanting "Sex Is Good! Sex Is Good!" over and over. It took about an hour but police finally restored order.(Dan Burrows)

How could he imagine that future generations would sell not only the land, the water, the air, and the electromagnetic spectrum, but even the genetic structure of life itself?

The church's website previously had instructions on "how to kill yourself" by asphyxiation using helium. These pages were removed in 2003 after a 52-year-old woman used them to commit suicide in St. Louis County, Missouri, resulting in legal threats against the church.

The instructions downloaded from the Internet were explicit, and, according to police, followed precisely by a 52-year-old St. Louis woman in taking her own life Monday.

Printouts from the Web site left nearby described how to use helium to cause asphyxiation, exactly as she did. This is the Web site's "recommended method."

It is worrisome advice to someone on the edge, say people who study suicide and its causes.

To authorities, the Web site is a killer.

The suicide victim "would not have killed herself but for that content," St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce said last week. She wants to pursue voluntary manslaughter charges against the person responsible for providing that information.

The boyfriend of the St. Louis woman who committed suicide is hopeful the case against the Web site will be successful. His girlfriend had a history of clinical depression, he said, but she would not have known how to use helium to kill herself without the site's instruction.

"She followed it verbatim," said the boyfriend, who asked that his name not be used. "She got 100 percent of it from that site."

He found her Monday afternoon.

"It's destroyed my life," he said.
